The California approach... and the Wisconsin April 5 elections
The outcry of the Gov. Walker protesters to his spending cuts makes it sound like this is only happening in Wisconsin. But the Govenors Office in California has published the first ever YouTube video explaining their problems, including the budget cuts for education and services. This can be seen HERE. He is asking California Taxpayers if they would like a vote to determine California's direction. I like this approach because it negates outside sources from participating in the vote. I'm sure however that those same sources will attempt to influence the California electorate.
On another note, the April 5th election in WIsconsin is promising to be closely watched. Supreme Court Judge Prosser is a conservative and Congressman Jeff Stone (R) is running for Milwaukee County Executive - the spot left vacant by Scott Walker. The TV negative campaigns against these two candidates are running rampant, primarily because they are leading in the polls. These ads are presenting that these candidates are mere rubber stamps to Gov. Walkers agenda. In other words, the only agenda Scott Walker has is to end collective bargaining in the public sector unions.
Here's a Good READ concerning the Supreme Court candidates.
A note about JoAnne Kloppenburg from Media Trackers. I will have more about Judge Sumi later.
Here is what Jeff Stones opponent Chris Abele is planning.
In a pre-primary article from the "Milwaukee County Comment", they had this to say about the two frontrunners.
"Jeff Stone is the only candidate in the race trying to carry on the mantle of Scott Walker. He’s promising to hold the line on taxes, just as Walker did for the past 8 years. If he holds up that promise that alone would be enough to make him the best candidate for the job. He does have to prove himself however and I’ll be looking hard for some concrete ideas to cut spending and trim the fat that still exists in the county. We all know that if he wins he won’t have it easy, just as Scott Walker had to fight tooth and nail with the county board, so would Stone if he wins.
"Chris Abele is trying to come into this race as the “great unknown”, but he’s got ties to liberal interests all over the place. To make matters worse he’s trying to distance himself from the one interesting thing he had going for himself, that little “blow up county government” thing. While it may have been poor wording the idea of handing off county services to eliminate duplication is a wonderful idea, too bad he’s ditching it as he tries to win favor with liberal special interest groups."
