So the election is decided.

After all is said and done, basically nothing has changed. About 356,800 more voters cast their ballots for this election than in 2010. Scott Walkers margin of victory gained 1 percentage point over the 2010 election. All but one Senator led their district by approximate 3 to 2 margin.

Mayor Barrett came out first to make a concession statement - to the hushed dismay of his supporters. His speech was sincere to those in attendance, he spoke with class, and was gracious to Governor Walker. Mayor Barrett said that they will work together to move Wisconsin forward. It seemed to be the real Tom Barrett speaking.

Later, Governor Walker delivered his victory speech - when he mentioned that he had a telephone conversation with Mayor Barrett, some "boos" were heard. Governor Walker  said "no, no, no, the election is over... tomorrow". He continued with a "working together" commitment as well - Mayor Barrett had made this a talking point during the debates.

Sometime later Mahlon Mitchel said he would continue the fight and repeated that statement several times in a typical demanding manner. Hardly a "working together" attitude.

The only contest that remains unsettled is the Racine Senate race. There are some problems, and I understand that Racine contests are usually close. Some are questioning why Democrats went ahead with the recall process - with the time and money it cost the State to run the recall election. (Local news had reported that the Senate is in recess and would not convene till December. The general election is in November.) With that being said, there is a possibility that there will be a shift in the Senate majority to the Democrats - that will be a big win for them.

Now let the rhetoric and accusations begin...

Here's an account by Dr. Tim - far better at discussing this than I am.
